For its inaugural issue, The Current collected stories, research, and features on how melodies create memory, identity, and connection. Featuring interviews with a vocal teacher, an elderly choir group, and the young generation, along with feature on rural China community, commentary on Taylor Swift’s new album, neuroscience research, and consideration of opera's social effect, this issue follows how music resonates through time and space.
Meet Clara X.
Clara X. is a senior studying at Emma Willard School, also the founder and editor of the journal. She is the Editor-In-Chief of her school’s newspaper The Clock. She has conducted research on music’s effect on society, written 15+ articles, led 61 writers/10 editors, and published 80+ articles. She aims to bridge perspectives between communities across continents and ages through themed issues every month.
